A Mother's Day Flower

This HDR photo was the result of merging 14 different images of the same flower. Each image had a different exposure and half of them were in monochrome. I like the slightly surreal look the center flower takes on and the interesting color tone of the flowers in the background.

Forest Gift Shop, Cisco Grove

This was once a gift shop that opened in 1938 by John J. Wegman on Highway 40 in Cisco Grove, CA. It was a resting stop for those traveling through the Sierra Nevada mountains. It closed 10 years later with the onset of WW II. It reopened one more time but closed again when Interstate 80 was built nearby. I used three photos at different exposures to produce this HDR image.

Wintry Rock

This was taken before the heavy snow returned after three very dry months. I can only imagine this rock is now deep under the new snow. I produced this HDR image with Photomatix.

The Old Red Cabin

Another cabin processed in the HDR format from my Cottonwood set.

Cottonwood: Wood Shingle Cabin

I tried to bring out the wood shingles on this cabin. This scene should really be loaded with snow this time of year but the drought in California continues. I might have to come back to this place next year to see the difference. That's the town of Truckee in the background.

I tried to bring out the very faded red on this old cabin. Check out the monochrome version of this photo too.

I couldn't make up my mind if I liked this monochrome version or the color one. I think both bring out certain qualities of the capture.

Cottonwood: Old Cabin

This is one of the abandoned cabins found at the old Cottonwood ski resort location in Truckee, CA.

Cottonwood: Old Train

This is located in Truckee, CA at an old ski resort built in 1928 called Cottonwood. I merged three photos at different exposures to produce this HDR image using Photomatix. The resort closed in 1969 and in 1988 a restaurant opened on the site keeping the name.
